I've always loved dragonflies and as a child I would watch them, fascinated by their wings and the little bits of color reflecting in the sunlight. This piece started out simply as a watercolor and ink drawing of a dragonfly using a very fine pen. As it came to life, the watery world of the dragonfly began to come into the piece and the creative process being what it is led me down an unexpected path. This work consists of five pieces and the whole piece took a good deal of time to complete. Each of the four corners is unique and done separately from the others. The original watercolor and the four corners were collaged together to create the whole. Creating this piece was a journey and along the way I I had no idea where the dragonfly was leading me. But in the end I was well pleased with the journey.

Sandra Hilliard Borrmann is a fine artist and works primarily with watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. She resides in Minnesota and has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. "I grew up in Minnesota...a place with long winters that invite people to pursue all sorts of creative endeavors. Both my parents were artists and made my childhood home a place were expressing yourself through art was encouraged. From my earliest years I remember watching and learning from both of them and the special gifts they each gave me have shaped my work and my life.
