This painting is part of a series of flower paintings, painted from imagination and incorporating patterns. I enjoy the play with the juxtaposition of organic shapes and geometrical patterns as well as the process of mixing elements of drawing with elements of painting. The paintings in this series are all named after a city.

After the painting is done, I look at it and think about a place the designs make me think about, as patterns are highly associated with cultures. These associations might not always be accurate but they represent my perception of various places and cultures. Sometimes it can be a place I have been to, sometimes it can be how I imagine that place to be.

My art embraces the essence of time and repetition. Through meticulous lines, intricate patterns, and rhythmic scribbles, I illuminate the temporal nature of creation. I find purpose in devoting time to crafting pieces meant solely for visual appreciation, a stark contrast to society’s demand for efficiency. My work serves as a memento mori, reminding us of time’s relentless passage and our place in the natural order. I explore the interplay between opposing elements, from symmetrical geometrics to asymmetrical organics, blending transparency with solidity and reality with imagination. Rooted in reality yet touched by the unreal, my subjects reveal whimsy within the everyday, inviting you to marvel at life’s simple beauty.
