This is a mid-size watercolor done in a style somewhere between the humorous series I did before it, and the realistic zoo series I did after. The kitties are almost realistic, but it is a humorous subject, or maybe not so humorous if you are looking at it from the mouse’s viewpoint. They look so nice and innocent sitting on their clean, soft cushions, but these three are still wild creatures at heart and will most likely do what they are designed to do if they get a chance, and will be pleased to do it. I know cats have a bad reputation for doing what they want to do, but I found that some will try to please on occasion, if asked politely. I used to ask all the stray or visiting cats who were once living here under my patio roof to please not bring any dead or about to die animals onto the property and not one of them ever did, or at least they were very good about hiding them.
