Description
The chukar partridge is an upland game bird in the pheasant family. Native to the Middle East and southern Asia, the chukar was brought as a game bird to North America, where it has thrived in some arid regions of the west. From late summer to early spring, they travel in coveys. Chukars are ground-dwelling birds that prefer walking or running. Easily outpacing a human, they traverse rocky slopes with ease hopping from rock to rock. When frightened they burst into the air with a piercing squeal. This image is a hand painted digital composite created in Spadecaller's Florida studio.
