Description
Philosophical symbology. 17th-century table of some of the symbols and representations used by English clergyman and natural philosopher John Wilkins (1614-1672) in his work 'An Essay towards a Real Character and a Philosophical Language' (1668). In this book, Wilkins attempted to establish a universal language. His scheme included elementary building blocks that could be used to symbolise and represent every possible concept.
